Why does my state change the answer?

The place where you receive care is part of the care question.

Ask about the place you will be

As of September 2026, telehealth prescribing rules differ by state; there is no single US state-rule standard.

Telehealth is care delivered on a video call, over the phone, or through an online exchange. Ask what rules apply where you will be during the visit.

A form does not have the same status everywhere

As of September 2026, Idaho bars treatment based only on a fixed online questionnaire.

As of September 2026, California lets a clinician use answers on a form to assess a patient before prescribing, if the assessment meets proper medical care standards.

California’s rule does not always require a live conversation, but whether the assessment is adequate depends on the patient’s situation.

Ask: How will you use my answers to decide what is wrong and whether this medicine fits? What will you do if my answers are not enough?

These are examples of different rules. They do not answer what your own state requires. Ask the service how its assessment meets your state’s rules.

The pharmacy has a state question too

As of September 2026, most states require their own permit or licence for a pharmacy shipping medicines from another state.

Ask for the pharmacy name and the permission that covers shipping to you.

If you are travelling

Before the visit, let the service know where you plan to be. Ask whether the arrangements change if that location changes. Keep the reply with your visit details, rather than assuming your home state is the only state involved.
