# What deserves a pause before paying?

A clear answer matters more than a polished page.

## No prescription for a prescription medicine

As of September 2026, federal law prohibits dispensing a medicine that requires a prescription when there is no valid prescription.

A prescription is the order from a licensed prescriber for that medicine. Ask who assesses you before it is issued.

## Approval language that does not match the product

Compounding means preparing a medicine to order. For the US Food and Drug Administration, FDA is the short name.

Even a pharmacy’s FDA registration gives its compounded medicines no FDA approval, as of September 2026.

An outsourcing facility makes batches of medicines to order, often for clinics and hospitals.

Registering an outsourcing facility means the medicine-making business chooses to submit information to the FDA; it is not approval of its medicines.

Ask whether the claim is about medicine approval, the business being listed with the FDA, or something else.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) says health-site seals and logos can be faked.

## No clear way to reach the clinician afterwards

The FDA lists lack of a licensed doctor to answer later medicine questions among its telehealth warning signs.

It also flags damaged packaging, missing instructions, and a pharmacy name that may be false.

Ask who handles later questions and which pharmacy name you can check.

## A cheap price beside missing answers

The FDA lists unusually large discounts as a reason to check an offer more closely; a low price alone does not prove there is a problem.

Look at the prescription, the named clinician, the pharmacy record, and the complete fee terms together. If a reply is unclear, ask for it again in plain words before paying.
